Silicone Mesh Reusable Microgreen Grow Medium
(fits bootstrap 1020 & Garland 1122 Microgreen Trays)
Perfect for growing seeds and microgreens
Introducing our high-quality silicone mesh for microgreens, specifically designed for use with either Garland 1122 microgreen trays and Bootstrap 1020 microgreen trays and when growing with the Kratky hydroponic method.
Silicone mesh grow mats have been popularised by CJ Vaughn & Mandi Vaughn from Dallas, Texas, through their On The Grow YouTube series. They provide excellent tutorials and experiments for growing microgreens.
That’s where I found out about this method of growing. I didn’t take the time to master growing on silicone mesh, and instead grow on coco coir, but I do sell them.
Incidentally, I cut sections of these to use as filters for the tops of mason jars when sprouting seeds. You just need to mark a circle slightly larger than a jar and then either carefully screw the ring part of the lid – minus the top – back on and it seals it really well. You can use an elastic band as well and it makes any glass jar a sprouting jar.
This durable, reusable mesh supports optimal root growth, water absorption, and air circulation, making it a superior alternative to soil or coconut coir. It is also easy to clean and sterilise for hygienic growing cycles.

The Kratky Method: A Simple and Efficient Hydroponic Technique
Perfect for the Kratky method, place the silicone mesh inside a 1020 tray with holes, which is then set above a tray of nutrient solution. As the plants grow, an air gap forms, providing roots with essential oxygen. Learn more in our guide: The Kratky Method: Growing Microgreens Hydroponically.
Whether you’re a home grower or a small-scale producer, our silicone mesh offers a simple, efficient, and eco-friendly way to grow nutritious microgreens year-round.
